Zuki by lassekongo83 Zuki by lassekongo83
Current version: 0.3.3

GTK engines required:
- The latest stable Murrine engine (The one that comes with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.)
- The latest Equinox engine. [link]
- gtk2-engines-pixbuf (The pixmap engine. Comes with Ubuntu.)

Q: What's different from your previous styles?
A: Just an updated gtkrc that's designed around nautilus-elementary. Some new Murrine button gradients and effects etc. A new metacity theme.

Q: Will it work without nautilus-elementary?
A: There is a version for classic Nautilus users too.

Q: You were inspired by eGTK right?
A: Butt of curse! :p Plus plenty of other themes.

Anyways, I suggest that you use a dock for this theme. I may redesign the panel to not use pixmaps so I can use the murrine textstyle option in the panel.

To correctly display the breadcrumbs in nautilus-elementary, go to Properties > Tweaks > Show like breadcrumbs and then restart Nautilus.

This is an optional step for experienced customizers.

As you can see in my preview image I've added a custom panel. Gnome-panel unfortunately can't handle real transparency without making it all look like a frellwit. We can work around this by embedding some graphics on our wallpaper, making it look like real transparency.

First of all, make sure you are using "Zuki Dark's" controls and widgets.

For this to work you need to have GIMP installed.
Ubuntu users - Open a terminal and type: sudo apt-get install gimp You also need a GIMP plugin call Liquid Rescale: sudo apt-get install gimp-plugin-registry
Other users - [link]

### THE IMAGE ###

1. Locate the panel.png file in the archive.

2. Open the PNG-file in GIMP.

3. Go to Layer > Liquid Rescale.

4. Enter your screen width in the Width area and then resize the image.
(The "chain" icon next to the values needs to be "open". If it's locked, just click on it. It should be open by default though.)

5. Press CTRL+A (or Select > All.) Copy the image and paste it on your wallpaper of choice.
Important: Your wallpaper must have the same width and height as your desktop resolution.

6. Move the pasted layer to the top and then save your new wallpaper as whatever.png.

Optional advanced step: If you want the background behind your panel blurred or a bit darkened you can use the "magic wand" tool. Select the panel layer, then use the magic wand to select the empty area below the panel. Invert your selection and copy a panel look-a-like part from your wallpaper, then paste it as a new layer. Now you can experiment with layer styles and blur.

### THE PANEL ###

(Make sure your panel is set to 24px in height.)

1. Go to the directory where you installed the theme. Open the panel.rc file.

2. Put a # in front of bg_pixmap[NORMAL] so it will look like this:
#bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = "/Panel/panel-bg.png" # Disable for normal panel backgrounds.
Then save the document.

3. Right-click on your panel and select properties. Go to the Background tab and select Solid color. Move the Style slider all the way to the left.

4. And you're done! Enjoy your fake transparent panel. :p

0.3.3 (July 20, 2010)
- New pixmap scrollbars very similar to elementary.
- New panel option for experienced customizers.
- Removed the color options to reduce the size so I can upload it as a zip on gnome-look again. Colors can easily be changed in the Gnome Appearance Settings. (7z file still present here on deviantart.)

0.3.2 (June 23, 2010)
- Added another hover to the scrollbar.
- Rounded the progressbars.
- Re-packaged everything into a 7zip file because the normal zip file became too big for gnome-look.
- Emerald theme included.

0.3.1 (June 14, 2010)
- Fixed panel applet text color in the dark styles.

0.3 (June 14, 2010)
- XFCE desktop icon textstyle removed.
- New dark style included with dark panel and window borders.
- Selected menu text now changes to white when hovered.
- Minor fixes and cleanup.

0.2.2 (June 12, 2010)
- Added a version for classic Nautilus users. The same version does not any longer require the Equinox engine.

0.2.1 (June 12, 2010)
- New color schemes. Green and pink.
- Theme files and info files included for easier theme installation.

0.2 (June 11, 2010)
- Some cleaning done
- Breadcrumbs added to Nautilus
- Added the pixmap slider from eGTK to Nautilus
- New panel code based on the one from eGTK.
- Minor fixes

0.1 (June 10, 2010)
- First release

Zuki Dark is one of my all time favourite wallpapers... I use it most of the time on laptop and desktop.

Great work!

I LOVE your theme.

But, as a feedback: I humbly and respectfully think you should change the look of the gnome-panel handlers (or make them invisible): [link]

I honestly think they are horrible... it's not a big deal though, I scarcely use non-expanded gnome panels, still one of my favourite themes.

Hi, great theme...I considering using this theme ;) I was just wondering which version of Nautilus you have? And how you've managed to do this look of Nautilus? I have Ubuntu 9.10 and the Nautilus looks fine, but in Ubuntu 10.10 the Nautilus composition is actual theme Mac4Lin doesn't work with it like in Ubuntu 9.10...

Help a svenne out.

1. How to make brogressbar rectangular?

2. How to round the frame marked below, is it possible to make it transparent and how to disable it?

3. How to fix the look of text in red rectangle shown below?

Great theme, but how to fix the following: (notice the look software sources and Synaptic's window, although nautilus elementary looks normally)

lassekongo83 Featured By Owner Aug 6, 2010
Copy the theme to /usr/share/themes to allow the administrator account to use it too.

Just to report, 0.2 definitely fixed up the panel on XFCE. The desktop icon text still has a white drop shadow that's a little funny looking, but aside from that everything is looking great. :)
lassekongo83 Featured By Owner Jun 13, 2010
Try to add this to the bottom of the gtkrc file.

style "xfdesktop-icon-view"
engine "murrine"
textstyle = 0
widget_class "*XfdesktopIconView*" style "xfdesktop-icon-view"

Does that fix the XFCE desktop icon text? I can't test it myself at the moment.
