General questions

Q1: What's this?
A: If you need help with something in one of my themes I hope that you can find your answer here. I don't always have the time to reply to everything. (Though, sometimes I'm just very lazy too. )

Q2: I couldn't find my answer, what do I do now?
A: Read the FAQ again to make sure you didn't miss anything. If you still couldn't find your answer you can ask your question in this FAQ.

Q3: I downloaded a RAR/7z file. What's it for?
A: It's a file full with candy! Just get a program like 7-zip (for 7z files) or WinRAR to see what's inside the file. (You'll usally have to extract the contents to a folder if you're going to use it. It works like a zip-file.)

Q4: Why don't you answer my question / When are you online on jabber?
A: 1. See the first Q in this FAQ *points up*. 2. I prefer to use my time to create new things instead of chatting / replying to everything. It's my way of saving time.

Q5: I don't understand English very well. Can you translate this FAQ?
A: Sorry. I only understand English, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish (written).

Q6: Do you take requests?
A: No. I don't have enough time for that.

Q7: Can I modify one of your Visual Styles/Foobar themes/Other skin and submit it here on Deviantart?
A: As long as you use the same creative commons license that's showed below the preview image it's fine - [link]

Visual Style FAQ

Q1: How can I use one of your styles?
A: First you need a patched uxtheme.dll file. (If you don't already have one.)
You can find a universal patcher here: [link]
Patch the file and follow the instructions.

(It requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. If you use SP3 you'll need another patcher.)

If everything went fine, just doubleclick on the *.msstyles file. Then the display properties window will display the style in the small preview area.

Q2: Can I use your styles in Vista? (Or, can I use your styles in WindowBlinds?)
A: Yes, If you use WindowBlinds. See this youtube clip for more info on what you have to do - [link]

Q3: Will you port your themes to Vista?
A: No. Not at the moment. I don't have Vista, and I have no plans on buying it in the nearest future.

Q4: Can I mod/port your themes and submit it here on DeviantArt?
A: Yes. But make sure you use the same Creative Commons license that I use. I would also like to be notified if you submit anything. Make sure you link back to the original theme too.

Q5: My fonts doesn't look the same as yours. What's wrong?
A1: Do you have the fonts?

A2: Did you turn on ClearType for antialiased text? (Go to Display Properties > Appearance > Effects and select ClearType.)

Q6: Some things are misplaced or not visible at all (or looks very strange.) What's wrong?
A: I have no idea, unless several other people reports the same bug. Most likely the problem is at your end. It can be everything from language settings to external 3rd party applications that conflicts with the theme.

GTK Theme FAQ

Q1: How do I use one of your GTK themes in Gnome/xfce4?
A: Extract the theme folder to your /home/your-username/.themes/ folder (ctrl+h to view hidden folders.) If you don't have a .themes folder you can create one. Then enter the settings for your appearance and choose to customize your current layout. Select the right widgets and metacity theme (If you're on xfce4 you can't use the metacity theme unless you install metacity and replace xfwm4 with it.)

Q2: When I apply the theme it looks nothing like the preview image. What's wrong?
A: You need 2 GTK engines for my themes. The first one is the pixmap/pixbuf engine and the other one is the mist engine. (Search for gtk-engines or gtk2-engines in your package manager to install them.)

Foobar2000 FAQ

NOTE: My configs don't work in foobar2000 0.9.5.3 or later

Q1: I downloaded one of your PanelsUI setups, but it doesn't look like it's supposed to. What's wrong?
A1: Did you get all the plugins/fonts required? (Latest versions of all plugins too?)
A2: If things looks a bit misplaced, try to resize the window.

Q2: I miss an extra function. Will you add it?
A: Not unless I have any use for it myself.

Q3: Can you zip your foobar folder and email it to me? I can't get it to work.
A: NO! Don't ask. It's against the foobar license, and I don't want to share the information that I store in some plugins. Make sure you follow the instructions precisely if you can't get it to work.

Q4: Some things don't work, I get an [UNKNOWN FUNCTION] message for example. What's wrong?
A: I can't tell for sure, but try to make a fresh reinstall of foobar without any old plugins. Download and add all plugins that I link to in the description of the deviation and see if the message is gone.

Q5: When I try to apply the theme nothing happens. What's wrong?
A: Make sure you're using PanelsUI 0.13.8 beta. If you are, then I have no idea what's wrong.

Q6: Can PanelsUI display embedded cover art from tags?
A: No.

Wallpaper FAQ

Q1: When I try to download one of your wallpapers I get a blank.png file. What's wrong?
A: Easy answer. The problem is ... *drums* ... Internet Explorer! A browser full with inferior functions and some old bugs. On some setups there's a bug with PNG files. Solution: Get a better browser like Opera or Firefox.

Q2: Can I use one of your wallpapers in one of my art projects?
A: If it have a copyright license - No! If it have a Creative Commons license - yes, but notify me if you do.
